On Saturday, March 16, 2024, the German Embassy School Addis Ababa warmly welcomed the entire school community and prospective members to its much-anticipated ‘Open Day’ event. This vibrant occasion provided a comprehensive and enlightening experience for attendees of all ages, offering a glimpse into the unique ethos and educational excellence that define the DBSAA community. The ‘Open Day’ commenced with an immersive journey into the daily rhythm of the school, as visitors observed firsthand the dynamic learning environment across various classrooms. In the kindergarten section, participants were invited to partake in a range of activities, fostering meaningful interactions between current students and prospective members of the DBSAA family. Following the morning session, students took center stage, showcasing the diverse facets of DBSAA through an array of captivating presentations and interactive experiences. From a vibrant batik workshop in the art room to exhilarating science experiments conducted in dedicated laboratories, attendees were immersed in a tapestry of creativity and innovation. The gymnasium transformed into an adventurous parkour landscape, inviting visitors to explore and embrace the spirit of adventure. As the day drew to a close, visitors were treated to delectable refreshments and culinary delights courtesy of the DBSAA Parents’ Council. Amidst convivial conversations, attendees had the opportunity to engage with school representatives at informative stands, delving deeper into the distinctive features and offerings of DBSAA. Following the high spirits of the Kindergarten Sports Festival, the excitement continued as elementary students from grades 1 to 4 took center stage at their own Sports Festival. Nearly a hundred eager participants, representing the vibrant energy of our school community, showcased their athleticism and teamwork in a series of exhilarating events. From the adrenaline rush of the 100-meter dash to the graceful leaps of the long jump, and the impressive displays of strength in the shot put, every moment was filled with excitement and anticipation. The field buzzed with energy as students cheered on their classmates, celebrating each triumph and encouraging one another with boundless enthusiasm. The air was thick with the competitive spirit, yet the emphasis remained on fun and participation. Regardless of the outcome, each participant received applause and recognition for their efforts, fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the young athletes. As the festival came to an end, the echoes of laughter and cheers lingered, a testament to the joy and camaraderie shared on this memorable day of athletic prowess and community bonding. The Elementary Sports Festival not only showcased the talent and dedication of our students but also served as a reminder of the importance of teamwork and friendship in our school community.

On 16.02.24, the children from the DBSAA kindergarten and elementary school came together to celebrate a vibrant carnival party. The children appeared in many creative costumes and the atmosphere was great. There was a lot of dancing and laughing and the students and teachers enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere to the fullest. After the children had let off steam on the dance floor, there was a typical German carnival treat ‘Krapfen’, a kind of doughnut filled with jam. The carnival party was once again a huge success this year and the DBSAA children went home with smiling faces.

The spirit of joy and camaraderie filled the air as the kindergarten students of the German Embassy School recently gathered for a thrilling Sports Festival. The soccer field buzzed with excitement as children, divided into groups, eagerly embarked on a morning filled with delightful activities and games. From testing their balance by walking on benches to zooming through tunnels and scoring goals, there was no shortage of excitement. Each corner of the school grounds was alive with laughter and cheers as the young participants immersed themselves in various challenges. While some raced with fervor in thrilling competitions, others showcased their agility and strength in activities like long jumps. The atmosphere reverberated with cheers and encouragement as the children pushed themselves to new limits, cheered on by their peers and teachers alike. From the exhilarating race to fill a cup with water and dash back to the finish line, to the infectious energy of musical accompaniment, every moment was filled with joy and enthusiasm. As the morning unfolded, it became evident that the Sports Festival was not just about physical activities; it was a celebration of teamwork, perseverance, and the sheer joy of being together. Regardless of the outcome of the games, every child emerged as a winner, their faces beaming with pride and satisfaction.

At the beginning of the second semester on January 29th, the traditional hiking day for the secondary school took place. This year’s destination was Gulele Botanical Garden. The students had to complete a circuit with various tasks. For example, they had to build a tower, identify plants, catch a sheep and much more.  It was an exciting day and a nice change from the normal school routine, which teachers and students really enjoyed.
