A week full of colors, movement, music, scents and delicacies: The project week in the kindergarten of the German Embassy School Addis Ababa was a lively experience for all the senses. The children had the opportunity to try out various creative, sporting and culinary activities and test their senses. They baked, danced, painted and much more. The children were able to experience the different areas in mixed groups. The project week was a feast for the senses and was great fun for everyone involved. The children were able to deepen their interests, discover their own abilities and, above all, try out new things together.
This year’s sports festival at our primary school took place on 16.05.25. All participants were highly motivated and once again delivered top performances. The children from Year 1 to Year 4 competed against each other in the 100m run, long throw and long jump. The children mastered the disciplines with great ambition and motivation. At the end of the day, however, the main focus was on having fun, which was not lacking in any way at this event.
On 16.05.25, a very special morning took place at the kindergarten of the German Embassy School Addis Ababa: Grandparents’ Day. The guests were welcomed with great joy by the children and the kindergarten team. The excitement was palpable as soon as they arrived – for many children it was something very special to welcome their grandparents into their kindergarten world. The focus of the morning was on the exchange between the generations. The grandparents told the children stories from their own childhood and gave exciting insights into another time. The grandparents also had the opportunity to get to know their grandchildren’s everyday kindergarten life. The Grandparents’ Day was a valuable opportunity to build bridges between the generations, share memories and create new ones together. The kindergarten team would like to thank all grandparents for their visit and is already looking forward to a repeat next year.
On Saturday, 10.05.25, the grounds of the German Embassy School Addis Ababa (DBSAA) were transformed into a lively meeting place full of sporting excellence and socializing. The student council had invited to a sports tournament to inaugurate the newly built basketball and beach volleyball court. Teams from the entire school family responded to the call. What made the tournament special: Not only students were on the field, but also parents, teachers, administrative staff and even the security team formed their own teams and competed against each other in soccer, beach volleyball and basketball. The annual SMV bazaar took place alongside the tournament and attracted numerous visitors. Everything from silver jewelry and plants to unique Ethiopian-inspired clothing was on offer. Delicious treats from various restaurants in Addis Ababa could also be found at this special event at the DBSAA. The school’s hip-hop dance groups also performed their new choreographies during the lunch break and delighted the audience. The combination of sporting commitment and creative togetherness made the event a complete success. The SMV proved once again how good organization and passion can strengthen the school community and at the same time create an all-round satisfying event. We are already looking forward to the next great events at the DBSAA!
