At the end of last year, a video competition for students from DSD schools – under the patronage of the President of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, Christine Streichert-Clivot, and the Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, Katja Keul – was held under the motto “We’re celebrating our birthday: the German Language Diploma turns 50!”. We are delighted that the DBSAA has won this competition and that we have been awarded book prizes. Watch the DBSAA video here:
On 10.12.25, the French Embassy invited the principal of DBSAA Robert Hasse to a festive ceremony. Mr. Hasse, as well as the principals of three other schools, signed a partnership agreement between the German Embassy School Addis Ababa and the French Embassy. This was a renewal of an existing cooperation agreement, as the DBSAA can already look back on many years of successful partnership with the French Embassy. We look forward to many more promising years of cooperation!
On December 19, 2024, the German Embassy School Addis Ababa invited its parents, teachers and staff to this year’s DBSAA Christmas party. The students of the different grades contributed to the festive atmosphere with impressive performances. The children enchanted the audience with plays and traditional Christmas carols. A special highlight of the evening was the science department’s Christmas chemistry show. The students demonstrated impressive experiments that showcased Christmas symbols and colors. Sparkling reactions amazed young and old alike. This original mix of science and festivity was the perfect end to a successful evening. The parents’ council took care of the physical well-being, providing a varied buffet with tasty treats and a BBQ. Another special attraction was the waffle station, which was run by the SMV and was very popular. All participants and spectators had a great time and looked forward to the upcoming festive season together.
On December 6, 2024, there was great excitement at the German Embassy School in Addis Ababa: St. Nicholas himself paid a visit to the children of the kindergarten and elementary school. The visit from St. Nicholas is a cherished tradition that is celebrated with great joy at the German Embassy School every year. The students had eagerly prepared for the special day in advance. Songs were rehearsed, poems memorized, and some children even prepared drawings and small gifts for St. Nicholas. Of course, St. Nicholas also had a sack full of surprises with him! Each child received a small Santa’s bag filled with a variety of treats. The joy was great, and the children’s beaming faces made the day a special experience for everyone.
