The answers to the most frequently asked questions are listed below.

Absence from school

Please excuse your child child by 8.00 a.m. at the latest by telephone or e-mail to the school’s office. On the first school day after recovery, your child should also submit a written apology to the class teacher. Kindergarten children can apologize directly to the group leader or via the kindergarten telephone. For more information please visit: www.dbsaa.de/health-first-aid/

Afternoon Care (NAMI)

From Monday to Friday from 1.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., afternoon care including homework supervision is offered. Registration is required for grades 1-4. For more information please visit: www.dbsaa.de/our-nami/

AGs & extracurricular activities at the DBSAA

The DBSAA offers a variety of AGs and extracurricular activities. The programm schedule is published at the beginning of the school year.

Application forms / Student file

To register, please hand in a completed application for admission together with copies of all passports (parents + child) to the school´s office. The application form is available on request from the office or can be downloaded from the website in the registration section.

Kindergarten: Please note the registration deadline for the kindergarten for the coming school year! We also publish this in the registration section of our website. Depending on capacity, children can also be admitted during the current school year. Please take note of the admission requirements.

Application for leave of absence from school

You can have your child released from school with a written request to the school management. If there is no request, the days of absence will be entered into the school report as absent without excuse.

Becoming involved in school life for parents

You as parents play an important role in the design and development of the DBSAA. You have the opportunity to become involved in various steering groups such as the Parents’ Council, to join the school association, to be nominated for the school board or to participate in internal events.

Bus service

Since the 2019/20 school year we have been offering a bus service along a route.
East: CCD – AYAT-CMC- Megenagna-DBSAA
The costs are calculated according to the distance travelled.
The school bus leaves in the morning for the first hour to the DBSAA and back at 4.30 p.m..

Caféteria / Amole

The cafeteria is open from Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
A cashless system was introduced at the DBSAA, which is based on “Amole”, the electronic payment platform of Dashen Bank. Student ID cards have been issued, which also serve as prepaid cards for the cashless system to make payments/purchases. Three menus are offered daily (Ethiopian, international and vegetarian).

Discount applications

In order to be classified as a self-payer, an informal application and proof from the employer that the employer is not paying the school fees must be submitted to the board. Self-payers also have the possibility to submit an application for a reduction of tuition fees to the board. The application for a reduction can be obtained from the school office

First day at school

The first school day at the beginning of the school year starts with an assembly in the gym. You will receive more information on this in good time in a parents’ letter. Children who start during the school year come to the school ‘s office with their parents at 07:30 on the first day of school and are then accompanied into class.

Leaving the school premises

Children from the age of 14 may leave the school premises independently after the end of lessons with the written consent of their parents or guardians. You will receive the corresponding application from the schools office. A passport photo must be submitted with the application.

Letters to parents

With about 10 letters to parents per school year, you will be informed by e-mail about all important upcoming dates at the DBSAA.

Lost and Found

You will find leftover sports bags, pencil cases or similar in our “Lost and Found” cupboard next to the cafeteria. Please contact the secretary’s office. Left valuables such as jewellery, wallets etc. are kept in the secretary’s office.

Library

The school library offers a wide range of German and English literature for young and old as well as audio files DVDs and games.

Nurse

For smaller emergencies we have a nurse who will be happy to look after your child. She is at school from Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:00.
If your child’s condition does not improve, we will call you on the nurse’s orders to pick up your child.

Pick up (registration vehicles / driver)

Please tell at the gate who will pick up the children and which vehicle will be used for this purpose (car registration number).

School

School children are admitted all year round if the admission requirements are met. After successful admission, the student file is completed with further documents (declaration of consent for data processing, emergency sheet, vaccination certificate (voluntary) and certificates).

School materials

The school material lists for pre-school up to grade 12 can be viewed on the DBSAA website or obtained from the secretariat on request. Supplementary materials can be purchased all year round from the schoolshop.

Textbooks

The textbooks must be purchased in part for each class level and are issued at the beginning of the school year.

Timetable and spatial planning

Your children receive the timetable and classroom plan on the first day of school.
