The core of the curriculum model consists of three elements.
All subjects are graded on a scale from 7 (excellent) to 1 (poor). Up to 3 additional points are awarded for the evaluation of the student’s performance in TOK and the comprehensive subject essay. At the end of the programme, students* take written examinations in their six subjects, which are corrected by external examiners. Part of the final grade is also derived from dedicated coursework, which is either graded by teachers at the school and then externally moderated, or sent directly to external examiners for correction. In preparation for the final exams, all IB students* of the DBSAA write demanding mock exams twice during the two-year programme. Students’ learning progress is continuously recorded and formally reported at the end of each quarter.
The IB Diploma is awarded by the IBO to students who have achieved at least 24 points (and a minimum score in each subject) and can demonstrate sufficient participation in the CAS programme. The highest score a student can achieve is 45.
