On 12.09.24, the “Ethiopia Day” took place once again at the DBSAA. The students were able to work creatively and intensively on various topics in different projects. The project day included some traditional elements, such as traditional Ethiopian dance and basket weaving, as well as projects with a more modern approach, such as skate training with Ethiopia Skate and modern art. After an intensive morning, the entire school community met up with the parents to enjoy an Ethiopian buffet together.After refreshments, the children were able to present their work and newly acquired skills to their classmates and parents in the DBSAA gymnasium. The celebrations were exuberant and the DBSAA once again demonstrated the special significance of an encounter school. The Ethiopian project day is not only an opportunity to appreciate the culture of Ethiopia, but also a valuable experience for our students to try out and develop intercultural skills.This year’s Ethiopia Day was once again a complete success and an interesting change to the school day for all students.
Despite the rainy weather, the students, parents and teachers did not let it spoil the joy of the school enrolment ceremony. The new first-graders entered the school grounds excitedly and with great expectations. Colorful umbrellas and beaming faces were the order of the day as the older students greeted their new schoolmates with a warm welcome song. The new principal, Mr. Robert Hasse, then welcomed all attending in the gymnasium and emphasized in his speech how important this first day of school is for the children and that the school will make every effort to give them a successful and happy start. Parents and relatives proudly watched their children take their first steps into the world of learning. This was followed by a lovingly prepared performance by the fourth grade, which delighted everyone. The first-graders were then taken to their future classrooms, where they were welcomed once again by their class teachers and prepared for the time ahead. Despite the rain, the atmosphere was exuberant and the new arrivals can now look forward to the adventure of school.
The first day of school after the summer break is always something special. Students, parents and teachers gather together to celebrate the start of the school year and get in the mood for the months ahead. This year, however, it was even more exciting for the students of the DBSAA, as they were welcomed by their new principal, Mr. Robert Hasse. He takes up the post of principal of the DBSAA with fresh energy and many new ideas.New classmates and teachers were also introduced and welcomed into the DBSAA community. The students are excited about the challenges they will face in the coming school year, and the teaching staff are open and eager to embrace the upcoming changes. The entire school is starting the new school year with a great deal of enthusiasm and optimism.
