An impressive lapbook exhibition took place as part of grade 5 biology lessons. The students had worked intensively on reptiles or amphibians of their own choice. The first phase consisted of thorough research. Each child chose an animal, collected comprehensive information and presented it in a creative lapbook. Topics such as habitat, diet, reproduction and special characteristics were highlighted. In the subsequent exhibition, the students proudly presented their lapbooks. The variety and creativity of the work was remarkable. The young researchers stood by their lapbooks, explained their findings and answered questions from interested visitors. This event offered the students an excellent opportunity to deepen their knowledge, sharpen their presentation skills and develop their creativity at the same time. A complete success for everyone involved!
At kindergarten, every week is a journey of adventure for the little explorers, but sometimes there are special events that take these adventures to a whole new level. One such event is the ever-popular “project week”. In the camel group, the focus was on the world of music and movement. The children had the opportunity to express their creative talent by dancing to different rhythms and sounds or by painting to music. The teachers helped the children to develop their motor skills and improve their sense of rhythm as they sang songs and danced together. The giraffe group focused on crafts and creativity by making their own toys. The children had the opportunity to develop their imagination and skills by making toys from different materials. They were able to make their own unique creations and then proudly present them. In the elephant group, it was all about jewelry design and motor skills as the children learned to make their own jewelry. Using beads, string and other materials, the little jewelry designers were able to create their own bracelets, rings and necklaces. They learned not only craft skills, but also about colors, patterns and personal style as they designed their own pieces of jewelry. The zebra group explored the fascinating world of art by trying out different painting techniques. From marble paintings to yarn techniques, the children were able to get to know and experiment with different materials and techniques. The teachers encouraged the children to fully express their feelings, ideas and creativity. In the leopard group, the focus was on culinary discovery as the children learned to prepare simple dishes themselves. From fruit salads to pancakes, the preschoolers were able to develop their culinary skills under the guidance of the teachers and then taste their own creations. Overall, the project week at the kindergarten was an enriching experience for the children, during which they not only acquired new knowledge, but were also able to develop their creativity and strengthen their social skills.
On May 31, 2024, the graduation ceremony for grades 10 and 12 took place at the DBSAA. The students have worked hard in both years and received their certificates from Mr. Auer, the German Ambassador of Addis Ababa, in a farewell ceremony. The last school year was full of assignments and exams for all students. Nevertheless, many still found the energy to get involved in the school community and to shape the school in a positive way for future generations of pupils. This day is all about the shared joy of the students, their proud parents and the teachers. Everyone involved has done their best over the past few months to ensure that everyone reaches their goal and receives their certificates on this day in great outfits. However, the day was also about saying goodbye to friends who will be leaving the school to go their own way. The DBSAA school community is looking forward to sharing in the future adventures and successes of the alumni.
Last Monday, May 6, the DBSAA’s little ballerinas showed off their newly acquired dancing skills for the first time. Parents, grandparents, siblings and friends came to the DBSAA sports hall and watched the talented dancers with great enthusiasm. Under the direction of Esen Peltner, the kindergarten children, preschoolers and first graders were able to gain valuable first ballet experience and present it in a touching performance. We look forward to more great performances from our ballerinas!
