🎭 Ein Tag voller Talent: Die Talentshow an der DBSAA

What a day! Once again, this year’s talent show was a true highlight in the school calendar of the German Embassy School Addis Ababa. With a wide variety of impressive performances, the stage came alive with creativity and energy. The jury certainly did not have an easy task, as the level of talent was exceptionally high. In the end, however, the group “The Circus” stood out, captivating the audience and earning a well-deserved victory. A special thank you goes to the Students’ Council (SMV) for their outstanding organization and dedication. Events like this would not be possible without their commitment. We would also like to thank all jury members for their time and thoughtful evaluations. The food food and sales vendors added to the vibrant atmosphere and made the day even more enjoyable for everyone involved. The talent show once again highlighted the creativity, courage, and strong sense of community that define our school. We are already looking forward to next year!

Erstes gemeinsames Iftar an der DBSAA

A special premiere took place at the German Embassy School Addis Ababa: for the first time, our school hosted a shared Iftar evening – a meaningful event centered around community, cultural exchange, and togetherness. The evening was thoughtfully organized by the Parents’ Council, whose dedication and effort made this special gathering possible. In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, parents, students, and staff came together to break the fast. A rich and carefully prepared buffet offered a wide variety of dishes and contributed to making the evening truly memorable. The Iftar not only provided an opportunity to experience an important cultural tradition, but also strengthened the sense of community within our school – reflecting our values of openness, respect, and mutual understanding. A heartfelt thank you goes to the Parents’ Council and to everyone who contributed to organizing and supporting this wonderful evening.

DBSAA auf der Didacta 2026 in Köln

This week, the German Embassy School Addis Ababa is once again represented at Didacta in Cologne, the world’s largest education trade fair. The event provides an important platform to connect with teachers and education professionals who are interested in working at German schools abroad. Our school is represented by Head of School Robert Hasse, Head of HR and Deputy Head of Administration Sonja Limberger, and Chairman of the School Board Shumit Chanda Wanner. Throughout the week, they are engaging with prospective teachers, presenting the DBSAA, and sharing insights into the unique opportunities of working at a German international school in Addis Ababa. They also had the pleasure of meeting former Head of School Martin Nutz, which made the visit to Didacta even more special. We are looking forward to many inspiring conversations and valuable new connections.

Erfolgreicher Tag der offenen Tür an der Deutschen Botschaftsschule Addis Abeba

Last Saturday, the German Embassy School Addis Ababa opened its doors to interested families and guests for this year’s Open Day. Numerous parents and children visited our campus to learn more about our school community and experience everyday school life first-hand. Throughout the day, visitors had the opportunity to gain authentic insights into classroom activities across different grade levels. Our teachers and students welcomed guests into selected lessons, allowing them to observe teaching methods, learning environments, and the unique atmosphere that characterizes our school. The Open Day also created space for many engaging conversations. Parents spoke with teachers, school leadership, and members of the community to learn more about our educational approach, curriculum, and the opportunities we offer our students. Beyond the classroom experience, guests enjoyed a warm and welcoming program on campus. A traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony offered visitors a moment to relax and experience local culture, while freshly baked pizza prepared live on site added to the lively atmosphere. Our youngest visitors had a particularly exciting time in the Kindergarten area, where a variety of fun and creative activities gave families a glimpse into the playful and nurturing learning environment of our early years program. We would like to thank everyone who visited us and helped make this day such a success. A special thank you goes to our dedicated teachers, the Parents’ Council, and everyone involved in organizing and supporting this event. We look forward to welcoming many of our visitors again soon.
