First DBSAA Alumni Reunion – A Heartfelt Homecoming

The German Embassy School Addis Ababa (DBSAA) was delighted to host its very first official alumni reunion – a special occasion that brought together former students from near and far. Some alumni even traveled from abroad to be part of this memorable day, highlighting the strong and lasting connection they continue to feel with their school. The event began with a warm welcome from the Head of School and the Deputy Head of School, who expressed their joy in seeing so many familiar faces return to campus. This was followed by a unique opportunity for alumni to step back into the classroom. During classroom visits, current students had the chance to engage directly with former DBSAA students, asking thoughtful and curious questions about their experiences, studies, and career paths. These moments created an inspiring exchange across generations. Afterwards, the alumni were invited on a guided tour of the school campus, led in part by the Head of School. The tour offered insights into the school’s current facilities, development, and learning environment. The official get-together that followed provided a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Over food and conversation, alumni reconnected with old friends, met fellow graduates, and shared stories from their time at DBSAA and beyond. In addition to the school leadership, the Chair of the School Board, Shumit Chanda, and Board Member Dr. Josephine von Weyhe, gave short remarks, warmly welcoming the alumni and emphasizing the importance of maintaining a strong and connected alumni community. The reunion was marked by a wonderful exchange of experiences, ideas, and memories. It was a truly special day for the entire DBSAA community, and we sincerely hope to welcome our alumni back again very soon.
