St. Martin’s Event at the DBSAA – A Joint Celebration for Kindergarten and Primary School

On November 11th, the Kindergarten and Primary School of the German Embassy School Addis Ababa celebrated the traditional St. Martin’s Fest together. The entire school community gathered in the early evening on the football field, where a warm and festive atmosphere quickly filled the air.

Together, everyone sang St. Martin’s songs with great enthusiasm, accompanied by the glow of the many lovingly crafted lanterns. The children then set off on the lantern walk, forming a colourful and joyful procession across the school grounds. The excitement and special mood were felt everywhere.

The highlight of the evening once again took place on the football field: Father Klein read the story of St. Martin while it was simultaneously brought to life by a rider reenacting the scene. It was a touching moment that made the message of kindness and sharing visible to all.

After the performance, the traditional gingerbread figures were handed out — in true St. Martin’s spirit, the children were encouraged to share them with one another.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our dedicated Parent Council. With great effort, they prepared a wonderful selection of food and drinks: alongside delicious hotdogs, there was a variety of cakes and snacks, as well as mulled wine and children’s punch, all of which contributed to a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.

It was a beautiful and harmonious celebration that will remain a special memory for everyone involved.
